My journey with CrossFit started with a Six-Week Challenge at JCC CrossFit (posted on Facebook). I wanted to do this because I felt insecure about my body, my weight, and stressed out. When I first started I spent time learning the basics and understanding the proper form for each exercise. What I love is that there is always a coach with you that is a professional trainer watching and correcting your form. I would not have taken this challenge without them. They, along with the CrossFit gym family/friends are my motivators. After a long day/week at work, I find that going to the gym and doing the workout of the day (WOD), is a good way to relieve stress. It keeps me in good physical shape and healthy. After the Six Week Challenge I continued to train at least 3 to 4 times a week. After a few months, (six months to be exact), I noticed my body had changed, my clothes started to slip off, I lost a couple of inches from my waist. Mind you, I didn’t lose a lot of weight, only about (4lbs). I noticed that my arms had a little more definition. Even my son noticed the difference. It has been a year now since I have been training at JCC CrossFit. What I have learned is that you decide how many days you want to train a week and how much you want push yourself. Only you know your own limits.
I really enjoy the camaraderie with the JCC CrossFit family/friends and will continue to physically train with them. I know that I need to work harder and improve in the areas that need improving. I know that I also need to have a healthier diet/meal plan. However, as of today, I feel much healthier and more confident every day because of my JCC CrossFit journey.

I started this fitness journey in Jan of 2018. At my heaviest I was 248 lbs, that’s very hard to put in writing. After having 2 kids and my spine fused, to say I had let myself go was an understatement. With the support of my family, my husband Chris, my sister Stephanie and my In laws Toni and Robert and the added love from my gym family I’ve made so much progress. We’re in the gym almost daily and we eat well, share recipes, and tips together. Getting uplifting texts, and being cheered on by my gym family makes all the difference in the world. You know that you are loved and supported at this gym. They help you and push you to achieve things you never thought possible. Now I’m at 187 lbs with more to go. My journey isn’t over and I’m so glad I get to continue it here with these amazing people.

Fast forward to a year and a half later and I don’t even recognize the person in my before photos. Now, as a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, I get to coach at the very place that changed my life.”
